Abstract
Abstract: The research focuses on the design and construction of a modular didactic platform for microcontroller and embedded system laboratories at a university. The platform consists of 20 modules with screen printing on components, communication ports, and power supply. It communicates with the PC via a USB port, processing information from the entire modular platform. The design and components used were selected in response to the real needs of teachers and students, collected through surveys. In addition, the plat-form allows the integration of these subjects in the simulation of techno-logical processes and the intelligent control of a home. The results show that the modular platform has improved the teaching-learning process, applying theoretical concepts in real environments. It works with the Arduino IDE software and open-source hardware. Its design is ergonomic and didactic for each station of the prototype of each circuit. Its dimensions are 555 mm long by 355 mm wide, which facilitates its mo-bilization.The power supply of the boards is included and is indicated with a voltage of 5 V and 3.3 V. It is optimal in the development time of practices, circuit design, and reduction of unnecessary expenses for students. The effective-ness of the project was evaluated through performance tests, satisfaction surveys, and the development of laboratory guides in areas such as automa-tion, control, and power

According to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INEC), Azuay is positioned as one of the provinces with the highest life expectancy, projecting a life expectancy of 79 years in 2020. This situation is related to a high incidence rate of osteoarthritis in the elderly, which makes this project relevant for this population. The proposal combines the categories of software, music, video games and electronics in a web platform that serves as a complementary therapy, using a controller as a manipulation tool. For the theoretical foundation, data was obtained from different academic repositories, following a qualitative, transcendental, experimental, explanatory approach. The evaluation of the project was carried out through the application of a questionnaire based on the LIKERT scale, in which the teachers evaluated the project and gave their opinion as judges. This study represents a significant contribution to the field of non-pharmacological therapy and the implementation of technology in the care of older adults with osteoarthritis of the hands.},

The latter is often difficult to be determine, especially when the ground truth is not unique but instead, a combined decision from a group of experts is given. One way to tackle this challenge is by using Multiple Expert Learning (MEL)-driven classifiers. In this regard, approaches based on Soft-margin support vector machines (SM-SVM) including penalty factors for each labeler have shown to be a suitable alternative as they can learn from experts holding different levels of trustworthiness. Nonetheless, dealing with nonlinear (complex structure) and hardly separable data is still an open issue. To address these problems, this work presents mathematical developments on SVM for MEL scenarios in a fully matrix formulation. As a remarkable contribution, we introduce a kernel extension of the SM-SVM problem for MEL scenarios together with a complete solution following from a quadratic programming approach.},

abstract = {Real-time vital signs monitoring, particularly heart rate, is essential in today's medical practice and research. Heart rate detection allows the doctor to monitor the patient's health status to provide immediate action against possible cardiovascular diseases. We present a possible alternative to traditional heart rate signal monitoring systems, a cardiac pulse system using low-cost piezoelectric signal identification. This system could benefit health care and develop continuous pulse waveform monitoring systems. This paper introduces a heartbeat per minute (BPM) cardiac pulse detection system based on a low-cost piezoelectric ceramic sensor (PCS). The PCS is placed under the wrist and adjusted with a silicone wristband to measure the pressure exerted by the radial artery on the sensor and thus obtain the patient's BPM. We propose a signal conditioning stage to reduce the sensor's noise when acquiring the data and make it suitable for real-time BPM visualization. As a comparison, we performed a statistical test to compare the low-cost PCS with types of traditional sensors, along with the help of 21 volunteers. Experimental results show that the data collected by the PCS, when used for heart rate detection, is highly accurate and close to traditional sensor measurements. Therefore, we conclude that the system efficiently monitors the cardiac pulse signal in BPM.

This letter presents an overview on some remarkable basics on kernels as well as the formulation of a clustering approach based on least-squares support vector machines. Specifically, the method known as kernel spectral clustering (KSC) is of interest. We explore the links between KSC and a weighted version of kernel principal component analysis (WKPCA). Also, we study the solution of the KSC problem by means of a primal-dual scheme. All mathematical developments are carried out following an entirely matrix formulation. As a result, in addition to the elegant KSC formulation, important insights and hints about the use and design of kernel-based approaches for clustering are provided.
The use of machine learning into economics scenarios results appealing since it allows for automatically testing economic models and predict consumer/client behavior to support decision-making processes. The finance market typically uses a set of expert labelers or Bureau credit scores given by governmental or private agencies such as Experian, Equifax, and Creditinfo, among others. This work focuses on introducing a so-named Bag of Expert (BoE): a novel approach for creating multi-expert Learning (MEL) frameworks aimed to emulate real experts labeling (human-given labels) using neural networks. The MEL systems “learn” to perform decision-making tasks by considering a uniform number of labels per sample or individuals along with respective descriptive variables. The BoE is created similarly to Generative Adversarial Network (GANs), but rather than using noise or perturbation by a generator, we trained a feed-forward neural network to randomize sampling data, and either add or decrease hidden neurons. Additionally, this paper aims to investigate the performance on economics-related datasets of several state-of-the-art MEL methods, such as GPC, GPC-PLAT, KAAR, MA-LFC, MA-DGRL, and MA-MAE. To do so, we develop an experimental framework composed of four tests: the first one using novice experts; the second with proficient experts; the third is a mix of novices, intermediate and proficient experts, and the last one uses crowd-sourcing. Our BoE method presents promising results and can be suitable as an alternative to properly assess the reliability of both MEL methods and conventional labeler generators (i.e., virtual expert labelers).},

The principal rationale underlying the use of multiple classifiers is that together the methods may be powered rather than their individual behavior.
